Sandbox Repellent

Cinnamon in the Sandbox keeps the bugs away!

I knew cinnamon repelled ants… but I never thought of this! Brilliant!
I’ve also heard it will keep the cats out.

Flea & Tick Spray

Flea & Tick Remedy

8 oz apple cider vinegar
4 oz warm water
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda

Mix dry ingredients first then slowly add to wet as the vinegar and baking soda will react slightly. Put into spray bottle and spray pets down. Be careful not to get in pets eyes.

Use Borax throughout the house, sprinkle it on the carpets and let sit for a few hours, then vacuum. This should kill all the fleas and ticks in your home and on your pets.

Wasp, Bees or Fly Trap

$$$ Saving way to get rid of wasps, bees and flies this season.

~Take an empty 2-liter or 20 oz soda bottle and “CAREFULLY” cut it in half with a sharp utility knife, preferably just below the upper neck or 1.5″ below where the top part of the label was.

~Take the part that you cut off, the bottle neck, turn it upside down and place it in the bottom half of the bottle. Push it down as far as it will go so there are no gaps around the edges so the insects cannot escape. It should fit snugly.

~If you wish to hang it by a cord then wrap the ends of the cord or shoe string with duck tape, this strengthens the the bond between the cord and duct tape when you fasten it to the side of the bottle. Make certain to fasten the cords directly across from one another with duct tape. Make sure when you tape the cord to the sides that you tape it to the bottom half of the bottle.

~Then mix up a sweet sugary mixture. Preferably something bright in color. I have used Orange Kool Aid and added more sugar to the mix to make it even sweeter.

~Pour this mixture into the bottle, making certain to leave about 3/4 of an inch between the liquid and the neck of the bottle so the insects can crawl in to drink. This makes it confusing for the insects to get out.

~Finally hang or set the Insect Trap anywhere you see wasps, bee’s or flies. Just make certain you place it a little ways away from where you will be entertaining or swimming. The sweet mixture will draw the insects to the trap.

Check on the trap every couple of days because it will fill up real fast. Simply take the upper part of the bottle out and empty it and repeat the above steps on refilling it.

Mosquito Trap

Mosquito trap – No more mosquitoes!!

Cut the top off a 2 liter bottle.

Invert the cone and place it inside the straight part of the bottle.
Glue the two pieces together.
Add 1 tsp yeast and 1/2 cup sugar to some luke warm water, and pour the mixture into the bottle.

Mosquitoes are attracted to the carbon dioxide that you exhale. The yeast feeds off the sugar and emits the same gas, so the mosquito enters the bottle, thinking she will find food there.Mosquito Trap

Ant Trap

This is a LOW COST method to get rid of ANTS once and for all.

~One Cup Sugar
~THREE Tablespoons Boric Acid or Borax Laundry Soap
~THREE Cups of Warm Water

Mix the Sugar and Boric Acid together and slowly add the warm water, stirring all the time so the mixture will not get lumpy.

Store is in a sealed jar and whenever you see ants simply take a used soda bottle or milk jug lid. Put a cotton ball in the lid and saturate the cotton ball with your sugar and boric acid mixture. It will not take much, just enough to fill the lid, if you spill any over the edge leave it, this will only attract the ants even more.

When you see the ants drinking the mixture, DO NOT kill them, let them drink and take the mixture back to the colony. This should kill the entire colony. In a day or two the entire colony should be gone.

If you have small children or pets make certain they cannot get to this mixture since Boric Acid is hazardous.
